Fire caused by unattended oil pan

What happened
The customer was cooking churros for her children and left the pan of oil unattended which caused a fire. The entire three-bedroom terraced property was damaged by the smoke and a new kitchen was required.
What we did
Our expert team of adjusters acted quickly to arrange alternative accommodation for the customer and her family at a short-term rental property.
This claim was challenging as it took place within the first Covid-19 UK lockdown, however our contractors completed all the building work quickly and the customer was able to return home within six weeks.
The result
By acting quickly and utilising our specialist contractor network we were able to reduce the overall claim lifecycle by half. This meant that the customer and her family were able to return home sooner and it also reduced the overall claim cost by saving approximately £5,000 in alternative accommodation costs.
